DeviceRecheck processes test events, media previews, short recordings and comparisons in your browser. The application has no media upload endpoint. Loading the website still sends requests to its hosting service. Stop, delete and clear have different effects, described below.
Information processed in the browser
Keyboard and mouse tools process key codes, modifiers, press and release events, automatic repeat, pointer types, click intervals and wheel events. History holds up to 160 recent entries. The screen tool displays five colors without reading screen images. The output audio tool generates short tones without requesting microphone access. Do not type passwords or private text into the test area.
The webcam requests video only for preview, without recording or screenshots. The microphone requests audio for relative signal observation and recordings you start. Browser-provided deviceId values, input device lists and names support input selection. Saved comparisons include the input display name.
Symptoms, tasks, feedback, adjustments, first runs and retests stay in the current tool’s memory. Saved runs include up to 12 recent observations. The application does not write these records or recordings to cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB or an application server. Recordings use local Blob playback URLs. Up to two clips are retained: the first and latest retest, with confirmation before replacing the latest.
Stop, delete and clear
Stop activity cancels a pending permission attempt, stops media tracks, finishes an active recording and stops playback, while retaining records. Finish recording ends the clip while input observation continues. A timer requests recording stop after 10 seconds; exact clip duration can vary. Starting playback stops microphone capture.
Delete this recording pauses and removes that clip and revokes its playback URL. It keeps written comparisons and does not itself stop active capture. Clear & end session stops activity and removes all clips, comparisons, feedback and adjustments. Symptom, task, selected device and device lists remain. Reset current observations keeps recordings and saved comparisons and does not stop capture.
Refreshing or switching tools creates a new session. Leaving clears session records and recordings, revokes recording object URLs, and stops media activity, including when the browser retains the page in its back cache. Clearing does not revoke device permission or erase hosting logs; use browser site settings to revoke permission.
Page requests, hosting and third parties
This is a static application with no application server receiving test data. Hosting services still process page, script, style and image requests. Local test processing does not mean hosting access logs do not exist. Current source has no analytics, advertising, remote font or error monitoring loader, and no application cookie-setting logic. External reference websites are opened when you follow their links.
The test preview uses a pages.dev hosting address. The production origin is https://www.devicerecheck.com; configuration alone does not establish that production is connected. Actual hosting log fields, purposes, access, processing locations, retention and deletion settings have not been verified. No promise of absent IP logs or a specific deletion period is made.
